AKARANA CLUB MATCHES.
The Akarana Defence Rifle Club held com. petitions on Saturday at Penrose range for trophies donated by Messrs. A. C. Watson and A. Wallace in A and C sections, and Sir George Elliott in B section. Ten shots each were fired at 600 and 700 yards, resulting in wins for A. H. Dixon of A section, E. Whit© of B section, and S. Scarborough of C section. v ' THE CITY CLUB. ' The City Rifle Club fired the second shoot of its fourth trophy series at ranges of 600 yards and 700 yards on Saturday. Conditions were difficult owing to the strength of the wind which throughout the shoot blew straight across the range. The visibility of the targets was somewhat patchy, and rendered consistent shooting well nigh Impossible. The scores are as follows: A Grade.—J. A. Spry. 47 at 600 yards. 87 at 700 yards—total, 84 A. T. Patrick, 38, 87—76: J. C. Yeo, 89. 36—75: G. H. Hughes, 42, 28—70; A. J. Pieterson, (14, 8&J----67. ft Trophy points are awarded as follows:— J. A. Spry, 8 points and silver spoon; A. T. Patrick, 2_points; 3, C. Yeo. 1 point. B Grade.—H. G. Adams. 33 at 600 yards, 24 at 700 yards, handicap total. 59; T. Nicholson. 32, 24 (scratch)—s6; J. R. Gray, 25, 28 (2)— R.
