SYDNEY. Jan. 16.
The official preliminary estimate of the New South Wales wheat* yield is 29,090,000 bushels, an average of four bushels to the acre, as compared with 13.4 bushel's to the acre last season. The poor average this season is due chiefly to the long-continued drought in most of the wheat areas. Thirteen per cent, of the sewings totally failed.
