The Lithuanians, after fighting all day, occupied Memel. They disarmed the French garrison.
. The final Lithuanian attack was made by several hundred volunteers under Simoditis, head of the Government which the invaders have established. The invaders penetrated the outskirts of the town during the morning, after heavy street fighting, and then demanded ths surrender cf. the French garrison, ntsvoVring 200. The position of the French was hopeless, -as their ammunition had run out. British and French warships are approaching, but they cannot arrive till to-night.
Panic prevails throughout the territory, and all. workers have downed tools. It is believed that the invasion is intendec to spoil Poland's claims to take over the territory.
