THE DEBT COMMISSIONS
LONG PRIVATE SESSION. FUNDING TERMS CONSIDERED., Vustralian and N.Z. Cable Association. (R«cd. 9.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 10. The British and American Debt Funding Commissions held a long session today. They examined the British statement regarding the financial position of Britain, and began consideration of the terms on which the debt can be funded without unduly disturbing industry and commerce. The meeting was private.
AMERICAN COMMISSIONERS. DEMOCRATIC REPRESENTATION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Asaociattan. (Reed. 8.5 P.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 10. The Finance Committee of the Senate has begun consideration of a Bill introduced by Mr. Harris to authorise the President to appoint three Democrats as members of the American Debt Funding Commission, which at present is composed exclusively .of Republicans.» Republican leaders advocate that responsibility for the directions of the commission should be shared by both parties. Mr. A. Mellon, Secretary of the Treasury, wrote to the committee disapproving an increase of the membership of the commission on the ground that it would become cumbersome.
