M- Hussey, of W»nganui,.left by the Main Trunk espreiijJ last evening. Mr. C. C. Odlin. of Wellington, left Auckland last evening by the Maiin Trunk 'express. Mr. W. Taylor, of Dunedin, and Mr. C. B. Norwood, of Wellington, are at the Grand Hotel. ■ The Rev. S. La-wry, who has been oil holiday in the North'island, has returned to Christchurch. .Mr. E. S. Baldwin, of Wellingtons has received confirmation of his appointment as vice-consul for the Argentine Republic, Sir John Salmond has returned to Wellington from the Marlborough district, where he has been spending the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Napier returned on Saturday from Lake Taupo, where they have been spending the Christmas vacation. " Sir' Robert Stout, Chief Justice, will , probably remain in the South Island until the middle of February, when he will re-> turn to Wellington. Mr. W. H. Morton, Wellington city engineer, who recently suffered a breakdown in health, is making steady progress toward, recovery at Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Barlow, of Christchurch, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Giles, o! Timsru, and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Wall, of Wellington, are at the Grand Hotel. Dr. W. S. Wallis, superintendent :of King George V. Hospital, has left Rotorua. on a month's holiday, most of which ha will spend with his family in Tauranga, While he is away Dr. F. W. Lumsden. will be in charge. ; Captain and Mrs. Neeve, who have been in charge of the work of the Salvation Army at Tauranga for the past eight months, ; have received notice of their transfer to Rotorua, and leave for that station on Wednesday next. They will be succeeded by Captain and Mrs. Prince, oil Otahuhu. Mr. W. L. T. Elliott, son of the Rev. W. J. Elliott, who was travelling with, the Auckland oricket team in Taßariaki, has had to be removed to." the hospital, suffering from diphtheria. Mr. EDiotfc, had been Reeling unwell for some time, but was unwilling to give way, and ultimately had to leave the cricket - field at Hawera. During her trip Dr. - : Paterson represented the j.Now Zealand Department r of Public i Health at the International Congress for . the Protection of Women and Children, held in Paris early in July last, and at ■■'. the thirty-third congress of the Royal Sanitary Institute, held at Bournemouth later in the same month.
