i LONDON BUYERS ACTIVE. DIFFICULT TO FILL ORDERS. PROSPECTS CONSIDERED GOOD. Inquiries in Auckland dairy circles show that London buyers of "butter are still active, and that factories are receiving offers of Is 6£d per lb. f.o.b. for ordinary first-grade butter. As most companies are adhering to the policy of open consignment, buyers are finding it extremely difficult to fill orders even at thi3 comparatively good price, which equals 193s in London for arrivals of butter during February." -. ~'>•_ ** The wholesale .. price of butter in Wellington last week was increased by Id per lb. to Is 7d net. Advices received in Auckland from Wellington indicate the probability of a further advance in the near future if the market maintains its present firmness. PEICE IN CHRISTOHUROH. ANOTHER ADVANCE MADE. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHUECH. Saturday. Another advance has taken place in the price of butter. . From to-day the factory price is Is 7d per lb. net, and the retail rate is Is 9d. This represents a rise of Id per lb., the price having been raised by a similar amount earlier in the week. Farm butters are not affected by the latest advance. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., are in receipt of the following cablegram from their London office, under date of January 4:— Butter.—The market is firm. We quote: New Zealand butter,, salted, 1965; Australian, g-a.q,, 186s; Danish, 2165; finest Australian, salted 1925, unsalted 1965. Cheese.—The market is firm. New Zealand, coloured 130s, white 1325; Canadian, 1345. *
