WEATHER FOR HOLIDAYS.
UNFAVOURABLE INDICATIONS
Following several hours of steady rain during the early hours, yesterday was beautifully fine, and pleasant conditions continued last evening. The prospects for a fine week-end are, however, doubtful. In his forecast last evening, tho text of which is published in another column, Mr. K. K. Wragge anticipates rain between finer intervals. A similar view is taken of the indications by Mr. H. M. Vincent, of Mount Albert, who wrote at 7 p.m.:—" Weather conditions, unfortunately do not look too promising for tho holidays. A new tropical disturbance is off tho north of New Zealand, while a< very energetic Antarctic disturbance is centred in the South. In these circumstances, unsettled weather is likely over tho whole •of the Dominion in tho immediate future, with northerly and westerly gales, while thunderstorms are likely along tho west coast of both islands. However, there ■will be intervals of fine weather, though there is no chance of permanent settled conditions for some time to come." These local conclusions are generally confirmed by the Government Meteorologist.
