RODNEY COUNTY COUNCIL.

[BY TELEGBAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WARKWORTH, Friday. At a meeting of the Rodney County Council the chairman reported that the Hon. J. G. Coates had promised to try and obtain - *, second £600 of the Matakana-Leigb loan for use this year. An amount of .£2OOO of the bridge loan was now available for the Hoteo bridge at Wayby, -work on •which could now be put in hand. Considerable discussion took place as to the Work in the engineer's office, and it was finally decided to call for applications for an assistant engineer at £300 per year and to raise the present engineer'* salary to JJ4OQ., It was reported that Puhoi drawbridge, on thu main north road, was in a. dangerous state, and it waa resolved to" claw'the repairs to i this as an urgent work. A vessel coming through recently collided with part of the structure and still further damaged it. It was decided to call for tenders for erection lof bridges over Pikoko and Onehtuiga streams at Kaipara Flats, the- council to supply all material.
