FOOTBALL PANDEMONIUM.
The applause of their womenfolk gives the Harpole football team such an advantage over their opponents that the Northants Football Association has issued an order banishing from all Northamptonshire League football grounds one of the Harpole players' wives. Mrs. George Surridge. leader of the movement. Her umbrella, with which she punctuates such remarks as. "He's not offside," "Hands," and "Foul!" is a rallying standard for the Harpole supporters and a terror to their enemies
She has been known to harry players with it when their tactics were not to her likin S- , „ . , Banning Mrs. Surridge is not. so simpl* as it sounds. Few of the grounds on which Northants League teams play on enclosed, and Mrs. Surridge has announced her intention of ignoring tr.J ban. She defies the management committee of the Northants League, and she savs she does not care a jot for the Football Association's orders.
Unless the League Committee thinks of a way to prevent access to an open field, bright eyes will continue to behold brave deeds, and the umbrella will continue to wave.
