♦ The tone of the Auckland sharemarket. was, unchanged yesterday, the demand for investment stocks being well maintained. In Government securities there were sales of War Loan, 1938, at £96 10s, late buyers offering £96 7s 6d without response from sellers. Soldiers' Loan bonds wanted at £99 12s 6d were quoted at £100 ss. There was inquiry for War Loan, 1927, at £95 15s, and Inscribed Stock, 1927, at £95 17s 6d, no sellers quoting in either instance. In banks Commercials quoted at 33s 3d had buyers at 32s 9d. Now Zealands inquired for at the earlier calls at 55s had late buyers at 565, sellers 575. Union of Australia, wanted at £13 Bs, had no sellers quoting. In insurances there were buyers for New Zealands at 28s 3d, sellers 283 6d. Offers of 36s for South British met with no response from sellers. In coals business was done in Taupiris at 18s, other buyers offering the same figure, sellers 18s 6d. In shipping business was done in the ordinary issue of Northern Steamships at 13s 4d, and in the contributing issue at 6s 6d. Miscellaneous stocks remained practically unchanged at the previous day's quotations. In mining Moanataiaris were inquired for at 3s, sellers 3s sd. There were sales of Waihis at 33s 9d, late buyers offering 33s 6d, sellers 33s 9d. Business was transacted in Waihi Grand Junctions at 10s 4d and 10s sd, late buyers offering 10s 4d, sellers 10s 6d. The following eales took place:—New Zealand War Loan, 1938, £96 10s; Taupiri Coal. 18s; Northern Steamship, 13s 4d; Northern Steamship (contrib.), 6s 6d; Waihi, 33s 9d; Waihi Grand Junction, 10s 4d, 10s sd.
