FIFTY TENNIS COURTS.

NEW CHRISTCHURCH PARK.

WAR MEMORIAL PROPOSAL. [BT TELEGHArH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHIUSTCHURCH. Tuesday. At a meeting of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association to-night, the financial arrangements in connection with the recent purchase of ten acres of land for association courts were approved. Mr. W. N. Seay, the president of the association, stated that there would be room for 150 courts.

Mr. J. H. Kirk, whose generous gift of £800 has made the project possible, submitted a proposal to make the new park a memorial to tennis players of Canterbury who had fallen in the war. It might, 'he suggested, be called Wilding Memorial Park or the Tennis Memorial sark - • ,1 A The suggestion was generally approved, but it was decided to refer the matter to a committee for a report. It was decided to inform the New Zealand Association that it was impossible to hold the invitation match against the New South Wales ladies' team on January 5 and 6, as these dates clashed with the M.C.C. test cricket match.
