BOROUGH COUNCILS.

MOUNT ALBERT. The Mount Albert Borough Council met last evening, tho Mayor. Mr. A. F- Bennett, presiding. There wore also present Meesrs. A. M- Wilson. E. S. Inwood, R. J. Allingbam. R. H. Armstrong. L. E. Rhodes. G. R- Metcalfo, and A. J- Jenkin. The consulting engineer. Mr F. E. Powell, reported that an excellent fitart had been made with the concrete paving of New North Road. Most of the metal had been screened and carted, and a certain distance of footpath had been formed- Iho engineer also submitted a proposal to amend the present roaamg conditions. Tina waa referred to the Legal and Finance Committee for report. Six tenders were received for the supply of water mains. Tho lowest tender, that of Briscoe and Company. Ltd.. for £2066, was accepted, subject to the consulting; engineer's approval. The turncock reported that the 4in. main on New North Road had been completed, and services laid to a number of properties. Three cross connections had been made. A number of residents wrote asking for en additional streot lamp "at Paice Avenue, and for provision for the drainage of stormwater. The petition was referred to a committee for report. It was decided to impose a 10 per cent. Penalty on all unpaid rates after January 15. __ _ NORTHCOTE. The Northcoto Borough Council met last evenine. The Mayor, Mr. W, E- Richardson, presided, and there were al?o present Messrs. .T B. Touar. A. Hurley. W. C. Smith, A. W. Smith. F. O. Devlin, and W. H. Barnes. , _ , , ~, Tho medical officer of health wrote agreeing «to the council's contribution ior the sanitary inspector's salary being at the rate of £33 until the end of March, but thenceforth the charge would be £55 yearly. The alteration in the ferry timetable was endorsed. , , , The next meeting is to oe held on the first Tuesday in February. The council office is to close for vacation till January 3.
