ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY.
NEEDS OF WEST TAMAKI.
POWER BOARD'S DECISION
The Auckland Electric Power Beard met yesterday, the chairman, Mr-. W. J. Holdsworth. presiding. There were also present Messrs. M. J. Bennett, S. Irwin Crookes. F. G. Clark, T. Bloodworth, H. T. Goldie, S. J. Harbutt, E. Hj. Potter, J. Rowe, J. Dempsey, and L. Joll.
The engineer, Mr. A. Wyliie. reported that he had conferred, with representatives of Tamaki West regarding their application for a supply of power, and had inspected the work already done in the district. He stated that the demand 4 wonld not be large, that there was very little power load depending on the existing small plant, and that a 'considerable portion of the area was rural. He d'd not consider it possible to supply the district until power from Horahora was available, and the work would occupy 18 months or longer. It was decided, on the engineer's recommendation, to offer a bulk supply from Horahora, when available, at a point on the West Tamaki boundary nearest to the Penrose sub-station, at a pressure oj 6603 volts o'r thereabouts, and at. the rate of £12 10s per k.v.a. of maximum load per annum.
A new by-law was made by way of special order relating to the licensing of electric wiremen. The by-law provides for the appointment of an "Auckland Electric WiremenV Examining Board," authorised to conduct examinations and issue certificates for the licensing of master and journeymen wiremen.
