THE BACON INDUSTRY.
OPOTIKI WANTS FACTORY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OPOTIKI, Saturday. A meeting of farnsers interested in the formation of a co-operative bacon company was held in Opotiki last evening and was well attended. A general discussion took_ place in regard to the bacon business, it being stated that the rearing of pigs at the present time js unprofitable. Those present considered a co-opera-tive concern with an up-to-date factory situated within the district would be a boon to dairy farmers. » A strong committee has been formed to go into the question fully, and a further meeting is to be held early in the New Year.
