RIFLE - SHOOTING.
CITY AND SUBURBS CLUB.
The City and Suburbs Defence Rifle Club fired the opening shoot of the third trophy series at Penrose on Saturday. The ranges were 600 yds. and 900 yds., and though sighting was at times a little difficult, the conditions trere generally good. The results are as follows:— A Section.—Pietersen, 46 at 800 yds.. 41 at 90Oyds—P": Patrick. 45. 41—80; Harrington, 43, 40—S3; Yeo. 40, 41—81; Spry. 42, <12—74. Tn this section Pietersen scores 3 points. Patrick 2 points and a silver spoon, and Harrington 1 point. B Section.—lv lcholocn, 44 at 800 yds. 39 £>t 900yd3., handicap 4—87; Russell. 43. 37. 3—83; McManus 36. 31. 3— TO; Adams, 35, 30. scr—6s. Nicholson takes fipcon and 3 points, Russell 2 pomt3 and McManus 1 point. . The club will hold a practice shoot on the short ranges next week in view of the forthcoming district meeting on January 1 and 2. AKARANA CLUB. The members of the Akarana .Defence Rifle Club opened a new trophy series on Saturday afternoon, firing 10 shots at 800 and 000 yards for trophies presented by Lieut. C. "V. Bedford, Mrs. V 7. J. Morgan and Mr. T. Elliott. In ths A Section W Colnuhoun compiled 93. which secured first place. G. G. Ashley, with 4S at the first range, could not ' overtake ColQuhoun s total, and C. Ashley was third. In the B Section scores were,not up to the usual standard, first place being secured Viy J. B. Torbet with a total of 78. Gaptnin Kretschmar tcok second place, and rj. G; White was third. T , „ First place in the C Section went to t D. Logan with the total of 84. R. Tilsey and H. Tavlor being respectively second and third.
