NEW SCENIC ROUTE PROVIDED. fBT TELEGRAPH.—OWN COaRESFONDENT.j TE KUITI. Friday. The completion of the through road from Te Kuiti .to New Plymouth is now an established fact. A tri-weekly motor service was inaugurated last week". The New Plymouth Tourist and Expansion League consider the route will ultimately prove one of the most popular motor drives in the Dominion, offering beautiful scenic views of Mokau River and glorious bush scenery. The league has written to the Mayor of Te Kuiti suggesting the establishment here of a league on similar lines to co-operate with the New Plymouth organisation. The letter says; that Te Kuiti must, in the near future, become the distributing centre c-f the tourist traffic for the North Island. The Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce has taken up the matter enthusiastically, and a tourist bureau will shortly bo opened here. At present the traveller from Auckland to New Plymouth leaves Auckland at 7.10 p.m. and arrives at New Plymouth at 8.30 p.m. the next day after spending a night on the train. It is now possible to leave Auckland at 7.10 p.m., spend the night at Te Kuiti, and arrive at New Plymouth at 4.30 p.m. next day.
