KILLED BY LANDSLIDE.
A MISSIONARY'S FATE.
m h A Re T . Perc y Kin &> a na «ve of lltord, and at one time associated with lii iu ai7S , C }^ h there » has beer killed by a landslide in China while bathing. Mr. King, who has been a missionary in China for 18 years, was bathing in a hillside poo l at Mo-Kan-Shan when the landslide occurred, and he was Killed before his wife's eyes.' The circumstances of the tragedy are contained in a letter received at Ilford by a brother of the dead missionary as follows:—" He and his wife-were having a swim in a bathing pool, on the afternoon of September 3, about 3 o'clock. Mrs King finished her bathe, and was on the bank, when suddenly a very heavy landslide started ' higher up ' the hill rushed down, oblitered the pool, and smashed the dressing rooms. The landslide caused the water to leave the pool in one great wave. Your brother was caught in that wave, and carried down the mountain some distance. When picked up, life was, I believe, extinct. His head must have been struck by a large rock, as the skull was badly fractured. Mrs. King %vas covered by the debris, but escaped without any serious injury. One foot was badly cut, and she will not be able to walk for some weeks." A letter received from Mrs. King savs her husband must have been killed instantly. He was buried in the English cemetery on the hill.of Mo-jKan-fihaa.
