The " Observer Christmas Annual," always a production of outstanding and original merit, this year surpasses all previous numbers. It is wholly original and typical of New Zealand, the illustrations and reading matter being by New Zealand artists and authors from start to finish.
Special feature of this year's Annual include a double-page cartoon depicting Bio's version of New Zealand's first bowling tournament: the ancient game as played by. the early Maoris in 1500 B.C. " A Christmas Community Sing at the Supreme Court." Judges, magistrates, barristers, and solicitors join in a Xmas carol led by C. J. Parr. Caricatures in miniature of legal lights, mining men, country folk, marine skippers, etc. Numerous other cartoons and sketches by five different artists, all New Zealaiiders. Stories and humorous articles by Claude**Jewell, P. Anuionv Lawlor, H. Hector Bolitho, Kenneth klmpett, Tom Harris, " 149," «nd " Wiremu," all well-known local writers.
