TENPENCE FOR LAMB.

SOUTH ISLAND OPENING.

EQUAL TO WARTIME PRICE.

FIRST EXPORT MARKET TEST.

[BT TELEGRAPH.—rRES3 ASSOCIATION .'

ASHBURTON, Tuesday,

The exceptionally good price of lOd per lb. for lamb was realised at the Tinwald sale to-day. This is actually the opening lamb sale of the export season in the South Island, and the figure augurs well for th© grower. The entry of lambs totalled 600. Tenpence per lb. is quite up to wartime prices, and is equal to 13d in London. A local expert considers that it is not unlikely that New Zealand consumers will be paying Is 6d per lb. for their Christmas lamb.
