WORKERS' EDUCATION.

ACTIVITIES OF ASSOCIATION". The annual meeting of the Auckland District Council of the Workers' Educational Association was held on Monday. The president, the Rev. A. B. Chappell, occupied the chair. The report of the year's work showed a considerable increase over the previous year in the number of classes and students, and a much wider public appreciation of the movement. Mr. L. A. Mander, the tutor-organiser, spoko of the necessity for getting into closer touch with organisations, and emphasised the proved value of lunch-hour talks and courses of lectures in factories, shops, and offices. He also outlined suggestions for next year's activities. The association should develop more on the scientific side, and classes might be formed in subjects such as biology and anthropology. The election of officers resulted as follows •.—President'. Mr. C. J. Bishop; vicepresidents. Dr. J. W. Mcllraith and Mr. C. A. Watts; hon. auditors, Messrs. A. J. Hutchinson, and W. R. Tuck; hon. treasurer, Mr. T. Bloodworth; secretary, Mr E. Blair; representatives on Tutorial Class Committee, Messrs. C J. Bishop, T. Bloodworth, 0. Mcßrine, and C. A. Watts. The following were elected members of the District Council: Hon. G. Fowlds, Dr. T. W. Leys, Prof. Dettmann, Rev \. B. Chappell, Messrs. O. McBrine, W. R. Tuck, M. J- Savage, M.P., G. H. Wilson, and T. U. Wells.
