REMOVAL THREATENED. LONDON, Nov. 27. The historic smithy at Gretna Green, where the culminating scenes. of many romantic elopements have been enacted, has been condemned by the County Council authorities as a danger tc motorists. Hugh Macklin, the present blacksmith, refuses to bo tempted by a large sum offered as compensation for the removal of the smithy. Ho declares that it is a necessity.
