SEAMEN'S STRIKE
Sir, —Over 20 Auckland steamers and four or five of the Union Steam Ship > Company's, boats are now thrown out of their regular traffic, to the intense inconvenience of the travelling public, because •the seamen will not won-: under the last ' [ award of the very Court set up for their benefit' and protection. "Quamdiu! Quamdiu! Cataline! How long, how long* Catalirie, will you conspire against Rome?" How long will these refractory seamen go unpunished? If anyone.holds up traffic in the public streets, quickly ' - are they run in and punished. It is the unreasonable; and grossly un. fair demands of Labour alone that is nowkeeping up the cost of living; ruining our railways, increasing our sea, freights, and preventing the Government economising "in our public finance. As a law-abiding citiren, on a very .small income, hardly scfU: cient to make ends meet, I ask that (fiese seamen shall be'punished, as a warning • and examplo to all other unionists who break the law. Also that no La bom- candidate be returned to Parliament in New ' Zealand, and, no Liberal-Labour, men re- j turned either. There is no objection to-■■'•'"'J Liberal candidates, as' a healthy Opposi. ; ,1 tion is useful. But these seamen have* filled the cup of Labour iniquity, and -V; their representatives should be turned down all over New ..Zealand, as thoroughly ■ j as! they have been,in England and Wales;-; ! iNDTGNAk^'-". \ November 4, 1922. v : " ;
