EX-KAISER'S WEALTH.
DIAMOND DIADEM FOR BRIDE
BITTER GERMAN COMMENT.
Angtralian sad N.Z. Cablo Association. ®ec<3. C.ll p.m.) BERLIN, Oct. 31.
The Vorwaerts states that the exKaiser has ordered a diadem of 700 diamonds set in platinum, and a pair of earrings, as a wedding gift to his bride. The smallest stone weighs half a carat. The diadem alone ia valued at 800,000,000 marks. The Vorwaerts points out that the gift harmonises with the ostentation And, extravagance of tho ex-Kaiser's reign. Whila the nation is suffering the bitterest need, and millions of pecplo are hardly ftble.to obtain bread, the man vho plunged 't into this plight can deck his bride with diamonds, the cost of which would suffice k> help 100,000 families in distress this winter. It asks how can other countries behove in Germany's insolvency when it puts its overthrown monarch in a position to gratify the whims of a capricious millionaire.
A monarchist journal says that tho ladem has been long possessed by tho 0 ®nzollerns and is only being reset.
