SAILING IN THE AIR.
NEW MONOPLANE GLIDER. LONDON, Oct. 21. " A most eventful experience." Such was the verdict of Captain Socken after his first glide at Ilford on a new type of monoplane glider resembling a bird with dropped wings. When launched the monoplane hung poised 6000 ft. above the valley. Then it glided down like a white bird. Captain Socken, owing to his inexperience, ended a remarkable flight in a ploughed field and damaged the undercarriage.
