THE STRAWERRY CROP.

INCREASED MARKETINGS. The spell of fine weather is hastening the ripening of strawberries, and the quantity of fruit reaching the Auckland City markets shows a steady increase. It was estimated that about 200 crates were offered yesterday, the prices ranging from 2s to 2s s£d a chip for best quality down to Is 3d for the poorer grade of berries from old beds. Provided the weather continues favourable very substantial quantities of fruit should be marketed next week. Small consignments have been iient to Wellington but the prices offering there do not snow much advantage en account of the railway freight of 3d a chip (parcel rate). .Life is probable larger quantities will be despatched next week.
