The wool sales were animated to-day and (here was keen general competition for everything. Rates were very firm. New Zealand Beaumont clip realised Is lid. SALES IN MELBOURNE. AN ALL-ROUND ADVANCE. A. Mid N.Z. MELBOURNE, Oct. 19. Tho wool sales attracted a large gathering of buyers. Compared with the September series, prices for Merinos were 10 per cent, higher and occasionally more. Bellies and pieces, comebacks and fine crossbreds were also 10 per cent, higher. Medium crossbreds advanced 7£, and coarse crossbreds advanced 5 per cent. SYDNEY SERIES CLOSED. COMPETITION VERY KEEN. Australian and N.Z. Cabla Association. (E©ed. IV7 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. IS. The third series of wool sales concluded to-day. Competition waa very keen, and came from all quarters, and late rates were maintained. A good clearance was effected.
