RAILWAY FARES.
REDUCTION IN BRITAIN.
50 PER CENT. ABOVE PRE-WAR Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. CB«cd 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 17. Railway companies in Britain announce that from Januarr 1 third-class fares will bis reduced to per mile, and first-class fares to 2£d per mile, being a reduction of one-seventh on present fares, or a reduction of 75 to 50 per cent, above the pre-war basis.
