IRISH PRISON-BREAKERS.

Thirteen rebels escaped from Sligo gaol by filing through the bars of a small window. They descended by ladders made of strips of blankets, and climbed the outer wall by means of a plank. They encountered a body of National troops and heavy firing then began throughout tho town, with the obvious intention of distracting the attention of the military. The prisoners escaped. STRIKE OF RAILWAYMEN. CURTAILED SERVICE OPPOSED Times- LONDON, Oct. 17. The Dublin correspondent of the Times says that as a protest against the reduction of the working week from six to five days, the Dublin employees of the Great Southern-Western Railway have struck work. All traffic is suspended and tho stations are guarded by National troops. Owing to continued outrages and destruction, the company suspended the Sunday services.
