POLL AT BIRKENHEAD.
ISIX SCHEMES TOTAL- £98,500. Loan proposals totalling £98,500 wens submitted yesterday by the Birkenhead Borough Council to a poll"of ratepayers.;/ There; were six separate issues, all of which were rejected. A special drainaga, area had been defined, the sewerage of; which was to cost £40,000. The number™ : of ratepayers in this area eligible to veto ; was 697, of whom 338 exercised their v privilege. The other five proposals • covered/the Whole of the borough, tlis ■, ratepayers on the roll totalling 1023, tiiii, - only 481 voted.
