CONCLUSION OF BUSINESS. SEVERAL BILLS* PASSED. The Auckland Anglican Synod concluded its. sessions last eveningi Bishop Averill presided. A bill, introduced by Mr. J. Hogben, to amfiod the.financial regulations, to provido for the: amalgamation of the home mission fund and the. home mission endowment fund with the central fund, passed through committee stages, with verbal amendments, and was read a third time. The bill contained a clause providing for the alteration of the name, of tho amalgamated funds to the central fUhd for church extension and home- mission work. ' ' . ■ • ' ■ • Bills to amend tho Diocesan Synod election statute and the parish - • statute passed through their final stages. . In;'' the' evening, -Archdeacon -s MacMurray's motion, expressing satisfaction that the bishop in his charge had drawn emphatic attention to the urgent need of remedying the shortage of ordination candidates, was cardrecf unanimously. A committee was appointed to consider what steps, if any, might be taken to -further the matter, and report.to the synod, the committee' consisting of Archdeacon Hawkins, Canon Tisdalh.Canon Williams, Canon James, Messrs. C. J. Tunks, Norman Williams, C. Hudson, and the mover. The synod rose at 8.30 p.m. i A conference of lay, members of the / synod was held yesterday morning. The laymen* were the guests of Bishop Averill and Mrs. Averill at luncheon.
