PROPOSED NEW VOTES.
£1000 FOR TONGARIRO.
[BT TELECaAPH.—SPECIAL RBPORTKa^ WELLINGTON, TuesdayA sum of £25,000 appears on the Public Works Estimates under the head of Tourist and Health Resorts. Last year £25 925 was voted and £17,996 was spent, the'principal items of expenditure being £1348 on the Mount Cook Hermitage Hostel, £4212 on the Rotorua drainage and water works, £3046 on the Rotorua electrical works and telephone line, and on the purchase of an accommodation house on the Te Anau-Milford track. The sum voted for the Tongariro National Park last year was £1200 and of this £881 was expended- This years vote is £1000. A vote of £500 for further improvements at Waikaremoana is proposed. Half of last year's grant of £1200 for firings improvements was expended, ,and a new vote of £1000 is proposed. Last year there was a vote of £1000 for additions to the Rotorua main bath house, but only £68 was expended; the new vote is £5000. A vote of £6000 for the drainage and water works and one of £12,000 tor the works and telephone line appears this year as well as a vote of -P. 5000 for a Diesel engine stand-by plant for the electrical works and tele Pn°,£!: line. It also is proposed to expend £750 on a for the Botorua baths superintendent, while last year's unexpended vote of £500 on account of the reconstruction of the blue and pavilion bath houses is renewed. The sum of £532 was spent on improvements at Waitomo l**t year, and there is a new vote of £600.
