ALL PROPOSALS CARRIED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHAKATANE. Monday. A poll of the ratepayers on the nnestion of raising two.harbour loans for £3000 and £35 respectively was taken on Saturday and both proposals were carried by the necessary roe-fifths majority. The verting on the two proposals was as follows :

For the raising of £3000 foj? engineering and survey work, with the object of gathermg data to enable Whakatane to be improved as a coastal port.—For the proposal, 221; against, 123.

For the ' raisin g of £3500 for general harbour works, river protection, training and reclamation works:—For the proposal, 239; against, 106. The day was vet and boisterous and consequently heavy polling was not recorded. The Wnakatano Ccrunty Council decided some time ago. provided the necessary loans were sanctioned, to erect seven cattle dips over the Rangitaiki Plains, and two over a portion of Matata. On Saturday a noli was taken on the proposal to raise for the erection of cattle dips at Rangitaiki, and £900 for dipß at Matata. Both [proposals wtere carried joy large majorities. The voting was as follows: — ■Por Ranpitaiki proposal, 82 ; against, 24. For the Matata proposal, 26; against, 0.
