POLICE COURT NEWS.
RECEIVING STOLEN WATCH.
YOUNG MAN ON PROBATION. A short sitting of the Police Court was held on Saturday, Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M.. presiding. Ravmond Albert Jennings (Mr. Taylor), a young man who had pleaded guilty on Thursday to a charge of having received a gold watch and chain, well knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained, came up for sentence. The "police report regardine accused's character being favourable, accused was admitted to probation for two years. USE OF BAD LANGUAGE. \ fine of £10, in default one month's imprisonment, was imposed Oil a young man, James Butcher, for having used obscene language in the etreet while drunk. _____ ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. On a charge of having obtained £1 from W. H. Stevens, at Paparoa, by falsely representing that he was a duly authorised collector for the Jubilee Institute for tho Blind, George Fraylor, aged 42, was remanded to appear at Maungaturoto on Friday, bail being fixed at £300, in two sureties of £150 each.
