MANGERE STATION.

PROPOSED CHANGE OF NAME.

The movement to have the name of Mangere railway station changed to Middlemore has received the approval of the Otahuhu Borough Council, as that body at its last meeting acceded to a request by Mr. H. T. Revell, of King's College, that it support a petition urging the change. The grounds on which the alteration is desired are: (1) That the station is not in Manfare but in Otahuhu Borough; (2) that langere proper is four miles distant; (3) that the use of the name causes confusion in delivery of parcels and letters; and (4) the name Middlemore is'the old name of the estate on which the station stands, and is the name most commonly used 'to designate the locality.
