Wragge at s%ven o'clock last evening:—Highpressure is gradually overlapping the northern districts from the lower latitudes of the Tasman Sea, so that, save for a tendency to passing showers, matters should now improve. In the South, however, showery and unsettled conditions are yet likely with an improvement following there also later. Winds veering southerly. There is a strong probability for snow over the Southern heights. Sea moderating. RAINFALL RECORD. Fall in City for <18 hours ended midnight. Oct. 15 (Herald gauge) ,27!n.
