ART OF THE DOMINION.
ARRANGING A DISPLAY. [BT TEUSGBAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Tho method of gathering and displaying art exhibits at the British Empiro Exhibition has been decidcd upon, subject to the approval of the Government. Mr. G. L. Donaldson, secretory of tho Canterbury Society of Arts, has conferred with Mr. Cjpllins, secretary of the Board of Trade, and as a result a scheme was outlined which will bo placed before tho Government for its approval. The idea is that the art societies in the four centres will select pictures from their respective districts ana galleries. Those will be forwarded to Wellington, where the final selection will be made by a committee comprising one delegato from each •of the societies and Mr. Mat Donald of tho Dominion Museum, who will act as secretary. Mr. Donaldson states that he in. terviowed tho secretory of tho Wellington Art Society yesterday, and he endorsed the Bchomo as outlined. It is intended to make the display thoroughly representative of New Zealand art. Works by deceased artists will bo included. Advice has been received from the executive of the exhibition stating its intention to build a special art gallery to hold all art exhibits from tho Dominions.
