REMOVAL OF TREES.
PRESERVING OLD LANDMARKS The historic cabbage tree on the footpath of Manukau Road, Newmarket, which was threatened with destruction owing to the widening of the thorough-: fare, Is to be moved back to the new footpath, and so preserved. There are several native trees on that portion of the railway property which is to be added to Manukau Road, and the Newmarket Borough Council has decided to preserve them also.
