Mr. J. H. Hides, of Melbourne, is et the Grand HoteL

Mr. Will Appleton, of Wellington, is on a visit to Auckland, and is at the Grand Hotel.

The Rev. A. B. Chappell, who is convalescing at Russell, is reported to bo making good progress toward recovery.

Mr. H. N. Bagnall, who has not been well for some time, is now confined to his home, and his health is giving his friends some anxiety.

Mr. A. H. M. Maning, manager of the Morrinsville branch of the Bank of Australasia, has been appointed manager of the Hamilton branch of the bank.

Mr. Albert Spencer, president of the Auckland Employers' Association, and Mr. S. ,E. Wright, secretary, were passengers by the Main Trunk express last evening.

Mr. E. E. Gillon, chief mechanical engineer of railways, arrived from ton yesterday, accompanied by Mrs. "\\. lon. Mr. and Mrs. Gillon are at the Central Hotel.

Mr. W. Grounds, of Hqkianga, who has been appointed chairman of the committee established to promote the dairy pool scheme, arrived from Welling. ton. He will leave for Hokianga to-day.

Messrs. H. J. Edmiston, W. E. Arev, and A. J. Harding, Auckland delegate; to the New Zealand Booksellers' Association annual conference to be held at Wellington, left by the Main Trunk express last night.

Mr. N. S. Falla, general traffic manager of tho Union Steam Ship Company, was a passenger on the Navua, which sailed for Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa on Saturday. Mr. Falla is making the round trip on the vessel, which is due back at Auckland on October 9.
