NEW CHURCH SCHOOL.

BLESSING FOUNDATION STONE

PARISH OF GOOD SHEPHERD. The ceremony of blessing the foundation atones of the new school and new presbytery at tho Roman Catholic Church jpf the Good Shepherd, Dominion Road, wl conducted yesterday afternoon by Dr. J. M. Listen, Coadjutor Bishop of Auckland. He was supported by the parish priest, Father Murphy, and a number of visiting clergy. The new buildings are estimated to cost ovor £4000, one-fourth of thifi sum having already been collected. Father Murphy stated that the building of a new school was overdue, as already tho roll number was 200. Only two rooms would be built at present, but the school would ultimately contain six class rooms. Both buildings were founded upon a rock, und were constructed of permanent materials, and he hoped they would give service for generations to come. Great credit for that day's events and for the choosing of tho site, 10 years ago, belonged to the lata Mosignor "Gillan. Next your it was hoped to open a convent for the housing cf tho sisters who taught in the school. Bishop Liston said it was only fitting that tho work ishould be commenced witri God's blessing, and he prayed that the Great High Priest would care for an 3 fructify the work of their parish priest, of the sisters at the school, and the children.
