OTAHUHU NOTES.
BALL IN AID OF PLUNKET WORK
The Plunket Society, whose nurses have done splendid work in Otahuhu, as in many other places, will benefit very much j by a fancy-dress ball and euchre held on i Friday night in the public hall. There was' a large attendance, and much in genuity was shown in the dresses worn Mrs, Berry, who ir„ black and gold, represented "Folly." gaine<; the first prize for ladies, and Mr Waring, an a cowboy. 1 was placed first among the men. Mrs. T. Lippiatt gained the first euchre prize : for ladies, and Mr. Baker the men's prize. j The music was provided by Mcsdames W. and B. Andrew and Messrs. Arlington and Avers. The Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd", presented the prizes. The ladies' committee by this and a previous effort are showing their appreciation of the valuable assistance rendered to the young mothers in Otahuhu by the visiting Plunket nurse. i The annual display of the Methodist gymnasium classes v/as held on Thurs day evening in the public hall. There was a very large attendance Medal? and trophies were presented to the following- - -Senior boys: J. Nicholls, 1 : F. Tren- ! with. 2. Junior hoys: S. Clarke, 1; S. Rosewarnt, 2; K. Handy-side, 3. Senior girls: Marjory W«":>, 1; Avis Clarke, 2, Hazel Ogil'ie. 3, ,'unior girls: Ella St. Oeorge, 1: Joyce Si.acey. 2. Beginners: Joyce Mitchell, 1-. Olga Hebden, 2. Elocutionary items .\.;re given by Mesdames Payne and Early, and a pianoforte duet jby Mrs. and Miss Andrew. Mr. Trenwith accompanied th« exercises on the piano. I Captain Potter has acted as instructor.
