STATEMENT BY DE VALERA.

ALLEGED BREACH OF PACT. A. "and N.Z. LONDON. Sept. 14.

Bamonn de Valera hcs issued a statement alleging that the Free State Party broke the paot with the Republicans *t the bidding of Mr. Churchill and Mr. Lloyd George. The Republicans were then unable to avert a terrible state of affairs. The treaty party want to play with their new army and win cheap military glory, and then present a fait accompli to those differing from them. "I stand by every word I spoke during the election campaign." he said. Snipers attacked the Telephone Exchange in Dublin, and firing broke out elsewhere in the city. The Central Telegraph Office has opened under military guard, whilo the telephone service has improved. The Ulster Government made a statement revealing -a plot to blow up the internment ship Argent* in Lough Lame, to release the interned Republicans abroad. A letter was found on a prisoner about to be re'eased which referred to the despatch of 141b. of guncotton with a fuse and detonator, to a friendly address in Lame. It stated also that experts were aboard who would ensure that the prisoners would be uninjured.

FRESH SNIPING IN DUBLIN.

CARS PATROL THE STREETS. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Sept. 14. The rebels have captured Ballina, in County Mayo. The National Army posts at the Four Courts Hotel. Dublin, are the centres of incessant rebel attacks. Sniper* fired on armoured cars patrolling tho city, and three lorries containing troops were ambushed. They returned the fire, three civilians, including a girl, being wounded. Many of the ambush party were taken prisoner. Masked men in Killarney visited the houses of six young women sympathise! 8 with the irregulars, and finding them in oed painted their bodies green.

RECAPTURE OF KENMARE.
