WHANGAREI PILOTS PLIGHT. CAPSIZE OF OPEN BOAT. [BI TBLZGBAPH.—OWN ' COBRESKONDKNT.J WHANGAREI. Friday. The official pilot for Whangarei Harbour, Captain Murdoch Stewart, was found clinging to an overturned boat in the harbour fairway at an early hour tuis morning. He was observed by the lookout on the steamer Tutanekai, which was proceeding up the harbour to Onerahi. A dinghy was lowered and Captain Stewart, who was helplessly numbed, and on the verge of collapse, was brought on board, and restorative measures were employed. He had started from his home at Whangarei Heads in a small open sailing boat to make Portland, where he was due to take charge of piloting the Koromiko out to sea.( His boat was overturned by a squall. The anchor bad fallen oat and held.
