FOOTBALL.
THE RUGBY GAME. CHARITY CUP PINAL. The final for the Charity Cup between Grammar Old Boye and College Rifles, to be played at Etien Park, is thei principal 'attraction in Rugby football to-day. The match is creating a great deal of interest not only with the contesting teams but with the general public, who anticipate a good game between the senior champions and the ranners-up. Both clubo will bo strongly represented, Grammar having a specially good side. V. Badeley has not sufficiently recovered from an injured ankle to take part, and his place has beon filled by Goodwin, who has been out of action for some time The College Rifles team is a good side, and a special attraction in the back combination will bo the appearance of Mark Nicholls, the New Zea.and representative, who has taken up his residence in Auckland and joined the College Rifles' Club. The match to-day will be the last of the senior club and representative contests, for the season under the jurisdiction of the Auckland Rugby Union, though 6omo junior representative matches will be piayed. An interesting contest as a curtain-raiser will be the replay of Edendale and Remuera for the primary schools' championship, commencing at 12.30 p.m. Keen interest is being taken in this match by parents and supporters of both schools, due to the tact that each team had a win in the eemi-final. Another match of interest to be played at Eden Park to-day is that between the Hamilton Cadets and the Auckland Cadets, commencing at 1.30. Cadet football is a promising feature of Rugby this season, and an interesting game is anticipated.
THE ASSOCIATION GAME. TO-DAY'S MATCHES. . The Association football knock-out competition for the Falcon Cup will be cont cued this afternoon at Victoria Park. The chief attraction ie th« game between H.M.S. Philomel and Ponsonby, which last Saturday resulted in a draw, after an extra, spell of 20 minutes had been played. In this connection the local centre has ruled that all future cup matches must bo played to a finish. On No. 4 ground Everton meets Ponsonby. and this aiso should prove to be a good con'est. The " curtain-raisers" will be provided by the finals of two of the junior grades. Commencing fat 1.45, y.M.C.A. ploy North Shore in the third division on No. 1 ground, while the fifth grace finalists, Northcote and Belmont. me»t on No. 4 rjronnd. Tho following will represent Ponsonby in the match against Philomel:—Anderson, Pobert=. Braifiiwiiite, Herberts. Lemming, Knr>e, Simms JvWvor, Dickson. Watt, Innes, Drake and Gatfield.
