UNDEFENDED DIVORCE.
TWO PETITIONS GRANTED.
UNFAITHFUL HUSBANDS.
Two undefended divorce petitions were heard yesterday in the Supreme Court by Mr. Justice Herdman, decrees nisi being granted in each instance.
Adultery was the" ground upon which Irene Brown (Mr. Vallanoe) sought a dissolution of her marriage with Colin Victor Brown. Petitioner said she was married at Petersham, England, in 1912. There were two children. Respondent went on active service, and after his discharge they lived together at Ohinewai, but respondent's treatment of her wait such that she left him and lived with her mother. When taxed with living with another woman he admitted the charge, saying he wanted her to divorce him. His Honor gave petitioner the custody oif the children, with costs on the lowest scale. Adultery was also the basis of a petition by Margaret Staples, of Katikati (Mr. Cahill), against Herbert Staples. The parties were married in 1903, in Britain. There were two children. In March, 1912. respondent came to New Zealand, leaving petitioner and the children in England. In September, 1920, s he followed hiro and they lived together at Avondale. Shortly after her arrival respondent brought another woman to the home and she soon displaced petitioner in respondent's affections. When spoken to on the subject respondent replied that it was impossible for him to liveapart from the woman. Petitioner had not lived with her husband since. His Honor gave petitioner the custody of the children, respondent to pay costs on the lowest scale. V
