OBITUARY.
DEATH OF OLD COLONIST. MRS. HARRIET JEFFRIES. An old colonist. Mrs. Harriet Jeffries, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Harding, Ponsonby, in her 85th year. Mrs. Jeffries left England by the ship Swiftsure over 60 years ago, end has resided in New Zealand ever since. She leaves three sons, four daughters, 33 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
MR. THOMAS B. TANNER, IB* TELEGRAPH.—-OWN CORRKSPONnEKT.) ' ' TATJEANGA. Friday. Mr. Thomas B. Tanner, who died at Rotorua to-dry, was well known in Tanranga, where he occupied the position of headmaster of the local district high school for many years. He was born at > Bandon, County Cork, Ireland, and was educated at the Grammar School, Cork, and Trinity College, Dublin. He came out to New Zealand about 40 years ago, and' immediately joined the service of the Auckland Education Board, with which he was associated until ill-health compelled him to relinquish his duties about three months ago. Among other appointments that deceased had filled were the positions of headmaster at the Coromandel, Rotorua, and Taumarunui schools. The deceased is survived by a widow and adult family.
