SUBURBAN TRAIN SERVICE.
THE NEEDS OF DRURY.
A public meeting was held at Drury recently, and was attended by residents of Drury and other districts in the Opaheke parish, including Bombay and Karaka. The meeting was held to discuss the extension of the suburban railway service to Drury and to consider the roply from tho Minister for Railways Which had been received, in connection ' with the largely-signed petition sent to the Prime Minister. Tho t»ply was not considered satisfactory. Tho meeting was unanimous in the view that tho matter should not be dropped. It was resolved: " That tho meeting form itself into a ratepayers' association, and that a committee be formed w-ith power to draw up rules and regulations." Tho following were elected to the committee: — Messrs. Armiger, Brooks, Cooper, Gardiner, George, Lundon, Langford, Maxwell, McKinney, Piatt, Waterhouse, and Major Spragg. The association will now take up the matter of the extension of the suburban railway servico to Drury, and place the matter before the Minister for Railways.
