THE SUNBEAM'S CAREER.

| YACHT AGAIN AT SEA. The famous yacht Sunbeam has passed into tho hands of Sir Walter Runciman, Bt., and Mr. Walter Runciman. Under the late Lord Brassey's flag the vessel sailed over 500,000 miles. During the war sho was a hospital ship in the Mediterranean, and was given by her owner to the Government ot India for similar purposes with her headquarters at Bombay.* She remained on this service until 1920, when she was returned to tho trustees of the Nautical College at Pangbourno as a training ship in Plymouth Harbour. The heavy expenses of post-war maintenance induced the college to dispense I with her, and under the new ownership • she has been completely re-equipped and ' reconditioned, and sailed on August 6 for Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. i The Sunbeam is described as an un- ! rivalled vessel, and under her now owner- ; ship has been modernised and given a i completely new outfit and a new suit of ! sails, boats, etc. "In full sail, she is one of the most beautiful things in the world," said an enthusiast. She has been round the world more than once, has crossed the Atlantic several times, and has called at nearly every important seaport in Asia, South America and Europe. Among those who cruised 1 in her were Mr. W. E. Gladstone, Alfred, I Lord Tennyson, and many naval and miliI tary commanders.
