ONEHUNGA ORPHANS' CLUB.
The eighth meeting of the Onohunga Orphans' Club session was held on Saturday evening, Mr. A. McColl presiding. There was a full attendance, and Mr. J. A. 0. Allum, president of the Auckland Industrial Association, and Mr. Frank Brown were present as official guests, as also were members of the Auckland, Wellington, and Hamilton clubs. The selections by the orchestra, which has attained a high state of efficiency under the conductor, Mr. Hardey, were highly appreciated. Mr. Allum referred to tho growing importance and recognition of the secondary industries and tho success of the recent Winter Show. There was no doubt whatever, he said, that the promotion and development of such industries was absolutely vital to the progress of the Dominion. Onebunga, with tho reclamation of the upper harbour and connected with Otahuhu, would become a great industrial centre. Mr. Frank Brown, endorsing Mr. Allim's remarks, referred to the importance of electrical power and Onehunga's unique position. The early supply of electricity over the whole isthmus heralded tho dawn of a new era of progress and prosperity.
