STOCKS AND SHARES.

There was a fair amount of activity on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday. In Government stocks, Soldiers' Loan (inscribed stock) changed hands at £99 ss, at ■which price more were wanted, sellers asking £99 10s. Bonds in the same loan were looked for at £99, with holders asking £99 15s. There was sustained demand for other loan issues, with a hardening tendency on the part of buyers in several directions. In banks New Zealand* sold at 56s 3d, with more on offer at that figure, buyers 565. Union of Australias were done at £13, late buyers offering £12 17s 6d, sellers closing at £13 2s 6d. In insurances New Zealands bad sellers at 27s 9d. South British at 39s were asked for at 37s 6d. In financial lines Dalgctys had demand at £9 12a 6d, no sellers quoting. In miscellaneous lines German marks changed hands at the rate of 5000 to the £, and more were looked for at same figure, sellers 4800 to the £. Wilsons Cements sold at 19s. In mining Waihis had sale at 27s 6d, late sellers 27s 9d, buyers 27s 4d. Grand Junctions were wanted at 9s, sellers 9s 2d.

The following sales took place: Soldiers' Loan (inscribed stock), £99 ss; Bank of New Zealand, 56s 3d; Union Bank of Australia. £13; Wilson s Cement, 19s; Waihi, 27s 6d ; Reichsmark, 5000 to the £.
