The Rev. W. C. Thomas, who came out to act as assistant at St. Paul's Cathedral, Dunedin, some two years aco will return to England shortly.

Mr. H. S. Alpe, the well-known long distance has taken up his residence in Wellington. In February next Mr. Alpe will undertake a walk to Greymouth from Christchurch by way of Blenheim and Nelson, in the interests of the Blind Soldiers' Fund.

Mr. H. G. Thomson, one of t*he directors of the Auckland Importers and Shippers' Protection Association, left for Welling., ton last evening, to give evidence on behalf of the association in* connection with the Shipping and Seamen Amendment Bill now' before Parliament.

Mr. F. V. Sanderson, district inspectorof factories, awards, and weights and measures for Hawke's Bay for 4 some time ■■ past, has resigned from the Governmentservice, having been appointed secretary and labour expert for the North Island Freezing Companies' Association. Mr< Sanderson will reside in Wellington.
